User Guide Series: Homer and Jean Blair Collection of United States Patent Models Machine for Upsetting (clamping) Tires (wagon)

Machine for Upsetting (clamping) Tires (wagon), U. S. Patent 16,331, January 6, 1857, Russell W. Gates, Homer, Michigan.

This invention uses a screw shaft, with right and left threaded portions, to bend a heated section of a metal tire to fit a wheel.

The 11" x 6" x 3" model is well made of dark wood with metal parts. The inventor's name is printed in gold script letters. Except for a small chip, the model is in excellent condition. The original Patent Office tag remains.
