NEWS RELEASE

     United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan, and District Attorney Lynn Abraham today announced the filing of an indictment against four defendants charging them with conspiracy to commit criminal infringement of copyright and one count of criminal infringement of copyright. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation ("FBI") and the Philadelphia Police Department. Search warrants were executed on October 26, 2005 in West Philadelphia resulting in the seizure by the FBI of over 25,000 bootleg, counterfeit and pirated movie DVDs and over 16,000 bootleg, counterfeit and pirated music recording CDs. If convicted, each defendant faces a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and a substantial fine.

     An Indictment or Information is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

     The case has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Ewald Zittlau.
